Scrap Matrix DT - 7 Dot's Cards

Hello, I hope you are all enjoying this months challenge and seeing all the DT's projects. I am back again to share my second project using 7 Dot's. I have to say I am enjoying creating projects using the 7 Dot's collection 'Writers Block' even though it definately isn't in my confront zone of creating with those colours but what would it be if it wasn't a challenge right?

For my second project using the 'Writers Block' collection I have created two cards.

I had a lot of fun layering different pieces while starting with a base on the card with some patterned paper from the collection.

Within my layers on my cards I used the same 4 elements, a tag from the collection, a Prima flower, Finnabair by Prima wood veneer cog and gears and a metal flower. I wanted to add a bit of colour to the colours. As I am sure you all know the colours in this collection don't in to me so I got out my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in the colour Lilac. I than coloured the wooden gears and cogs with the distress ink as well as going around the outside of the card.

And to finish the cards off I added a little sentiment using Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Stickers.

I really love how these cards turned out and that I was able to get outside of my creative confront zone and create with something I defiantly wouldn't use, but that's the point of the challenge hey?
I hope you are all enjoying this months challenge and I am loving seeing everyone's entries over on the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook group. If you haven't joined the Facebook group, be sure to pop over and join to keep up to date with the DT's projects, creative shares from Scrap Matrix customers an of course our monthly challenges. You can find Scrap Matrix Shares HERE.

I'll see you all soon with another project.

The Scrapper CT - 'Dream BIG'

Hi Scrappery fans, Lydia back finally to share a layout using the beautiful Violet Kits. It' been a while since I was here on the blog due to a crazy few months finishing Grade 11 at school, but I am now back and ready for 8 full weeks of creating and sharing.

Today's layout I am sharing features the stunning 'Bohemian Dream' collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio which is in the Violet Kits. I love this collection which has a lot of purple which is hard to find in scrapbooking collections.

Here is my layout featuring a dream catcher.

I absolutely love how this turned out and I have to say it is one of my favourite layouts.

For this title I used the pink Thickers that came in the kits and the gorgeous Cocoa Vanilla Studio chipboard pieces for the word 'BIG'.

I layered a few of the floral pieces which can be found in the ephemera pack to place around the dream catcher which is made out of layered patterned paper from the collection as well as those beautiful and delicate doilies which are found in the kits.

I did some fringing to make some feathers to fall off the dream catcher using some of the beautiful patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla.

Again I have to say this is one of my favourite layouts that I have done and I can't wait to create some more with these kits.

I'll be back really soon with another project.

Scrap Matrix DT - 7 Dots November Challenge

Hi Scrap Matrix blog readers, Lydia back to share my November 7 Dots challenge project.

Now if you are a fan of 7 Dots and know my style and colours I use, you will instantly know that 7 Dot's isn't my typical colour palette and I definitely wouldn't buy it if I had a choice. But by using the 7 Dots collection 'Writer's Block' I created a project that even surprised boss lady Vicki haha.

So here is my project.

To be honest I surprised myself  how easily I was able to create with these rust and neutral colours. I had fun layering too.

I can tell that you are thinking how did you create that rusty cog. Well fun fact it is an old and naturally rusted concrete cutting saw and it worked perfectly for this project and even co-ordinated with the colours in the 7 Dot's collection I was using.

Now aren't these Prima Flowers stunning and perfect for the colours in the 'Writers Block' collection which you can find in the Scrap Matrix store HERE.

I had some fun layering all the different patterned papers from the collection including a die cut tag from the collection.

And how cute are these tickets from the die cut sheet too.

I hope you have all be enjoyed by my creation and all the other creative designers with their projects too for this challenge. If you want to join in on our monthly challenges be sure to head over to our Facebook group Scrap Matrix Shares to share and join in on the fun Scrap Matrix challenges.

Have a great day/evening and I hope to see you all over on the Facebook group.

Scrap Matrix DT - Mixed Media Button

Lydia back, to share my second project for the month. Now you all know I am a lover of bright colours as you have all seen with my previous projects. So I am guessing with no surprise to you I have used my favourite colours yet again.

Here is my project I made using a paper mache button.

First thing I had to do before starting mixed media I had to prime the paper mache button with gesso. I used gesso from my stash but you can find a variety of brands and types in the Scrap Matrix store HERE.

Than I used some of the Scrap Matrix metal trinkets as a stencil when spraying my favourite Dylusions Ink Sprays in the colour Bubblegum Pink and Calypso Teal. When spraying these two colours I made sure they overlapped so I could blend the colours to create a stunning purple colour.

I used some of the gorgeous flowers to give some dimension.

I also added some Micro Beads which come in a variety of different colours to add a bit of shine and texture.

To give my project a more of a sewing feel I added a metal zip which can found in the Scrap Matrix store HERE. I also added a few Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Stickers.

I hope you like this project and I will be back very soon with another project and hopefully I use some other colours haha.

Scrap Matrix DT - 'hello' Art Journal Page for September Challenge

Hello arty friends of Scrap Matrix, Lydia back to share my project for this months Scrap Matrix Challenge. I had a little bit of fun and got messy with this months challenge which is 'Watercolour & Words'. So be sure to head over to the Scrap Matrix Shares Faceboook group to enter this months challenge.

For my project and interpretation of this challenge I had some fun and made a easy art journal page featuring Tim Holtz Distress Inks which you an find in the Scrap Matrix store HERE as my watercolour.

So here are some close ups of this art journal page. If you have seen my previous projects for Scrap Matrix you will know the colours I use. I will always have some sort of pinks and blues on my projects with a touch of other colours too. These colours just sing out to me and I find it easy to create with them.

For my 'Watercolour & Words' challenge project as  mentioned above I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in the colours 'worn lipstick', 'tattered rose', 'peacock feathers' and 'mustard seed'. All of these colours can be found in the Scrap Matrix store in both mini and regular size.

Now to achieve the background effect I have here, all I did was use the packing technique. All you will need to a little piece of plastic packaging, with a little bit of ink and a spray of water and than simply rub that on your surface.

As for the word part of the challenge I used a 13 Arts stencil called 'Art Brush' which can be found in the Scrap Matrix store HERE. I just used the words passion, inspire and create with some white texture paste on the background. I also used a wood veneer Heidi Swapp 'hello' from here mixed media Project Life set.

I love how this art journal page turned out and I have to say it is my favourite project for Scrap Matrix so far. I hope you enjoyed this project and I hope to see you all over on the Scrap Matrix Shares Facebook group entering the challenges.

Scrap Matrix DT - Mixed Media Mini Canvas

Hello Scrap Matrix blog readers, Lydia back to share my second project of the month with a fun and bright mini mixed media canvas. As I am a traditional 12x12 scrapbooker with only dabbling in mixed media I had a lot of fun and releasing my arty messy self with this canvas. And I love the colours!!!

For this project I used a 4x4 white canvas with a depth of 1.5inches that I had in my stash.
I then glued some twine from the Scrap Matrix store then to use black gesso to paint over both the twine and canvas.

I than added some white acrylic paint splatters to the background. Next was time to get messy with some Dylusions Ink Sprays in the colours Bubblegum Pink and Calipso Teal. I used these inks to colour a paper doily from my stash and to also colour some fun metal trinkets from the Scrap Matrix store.

I hope you all enjoyed this little canvas as much as I enjoyed making it and getting messy.
I will be back very soon to share another project.

Scrap Matrix Design Team!!! & September Moodboard Challenge Layout

Hello friends, so excited to be back and to share some exciting news. I am so excited to share that I have joined the first Scrap Matrix Design Team.

For those who don't know Scrap Matrix is a scrapbooking shop in South Australia and Online selling lots of fun scrapbooking and mixed media products. I am so thankful to be apart of this very talented team and I cant wait to see what I create using many products they use.

So I am also here to share my first project for Scrap Matrix with their first monthly challenge which is a moodboard for September. So here is my blog post for it.

Hello everyone, Lydia here to share my first project as part of the Scrap Matrix Team. I'm so excited to be here to share and inspire you all.

My first project to share with you all is apart of the September Moodboard challenge to show us your creative space, which you can join in over on the Scrap Matrix Share Facebook group. Be sure to head over to the group and enter for you chance to win a Scrap Matrix voucher thanks to Vicki.

And as I am sure you have seen the moodboard here it is again.

As for my project here is a scrapbook layout sharing five things about my creative space.

Now this a little bit different for me as this mixed media layout does not have any photos. But I thought what better why to show you all my creative space then to share five things about it and add some photos to this blog post of my space.

So for my background I used Tim Holz Mini Distress Inks. I used the colours Peacock Feathers, Tattered Rose and Mustard Seed to give a water coloured effect background.

For each of the numbers I fussy cut out of Pink Paislee's C'est La Vie paper #07. I love how the numbers worked so perfectly as I share five things about my creative space.

For number three I used chipboard piece from the store and used Dylusions Bubblegum Pink to give it a vibrant colour pop.

As a 16 year old I still live at home with my parents and younger sister so I have my creative space in my bedroom. I am lucky enough with how big my space is since it is in my bedroom. Overall my creative space is full of colour and has many vintage cameras and typewriters around it. I love where I create.

Thank you for all popping in to have a look at my creative space and I hope you all head over to the Scrap Matrix Share Facebook group and enter the first of many Scrap Matrix challenges.

I will be back very soon to share another project.
