GUEST BLOGGER - Mandy Elliott - Record Life Blog

Good afternoon everyone today I have something special for you all. Today I have a guest right here on my blog and today is Mandy from Record Life Blog. Mandy is a inspiration to me as we both love photography and love documenting our lives.

Mandy Elliott -
I feel like every blog post I write, I start by sharing how important it is to record life and document every day.  Its because I'm passionate about memory keeping, I just can't help myself. I want everyone to share my passion and want to document their lives too.
I have been a little bit of a "shutterbug" my entire life. After I bought my first professional grade camera in 2009, I began taking photography classes and later opened my own professional portrait business.  Because of this love for pictures, I've easily documented much of my life through the viewfinder of my Nikon camera.
By embracing new technology, I've found it easy to continue documenting life using my iPhone as well. I can't even begin to count how many photos I take each month.
This year however, I decided it wasn't enough to simply take pictures and add them into my Project Life album. This year, I set a New Year's resolution to journal in addition to my photo taking.
I've set out to tell my story too.  I want to document my every day with words, not just with photos.  My memory keeping process is always evolving and this year, I've adopted a fresh, clean style that will allow me to focus my Project Life albums on our real life and what happens daily.
After all, life's little moments MATTER. Life's circumstances and decisions affect us, shape us into who we are and show us what we value in life, creating the legacy we leave behind.

Best Wishes,
Mandy Elliott

Project Life - Week 6

Hey everyone I was planning on doing this post on Friday before we left for holidays but we left a day early so we were traveling most of the day. So I am here now sharing with you my week 6 project life layout while I am sitting in our Bungalow.

This week I used a verity of cards from different kits. This page was done really quickly as I was packing for our holiday at the same time but I really like how it turned out.

Close up of the Left side.

Close up of the right side

And some close ups of the some of the cards

Love this Printable card that @recordlifeblog made. (Find her on Instagram to print the card out.)
Yes yes I am still loving the enamel dots lol.

Project Life - Week 5

Morning everyone.

Here to share my week 5 layout before I forget and go on holidays.

This we s layout I would have to say had a lot of journaling for me.

Right LO - all of these cards are from Dear Lizzy's Core Kit.

Left LO - these cards are from Dear Lizzy Core kit, Kiwi core out and Hello Sunshine Value Kit.

Now for some close ups -

This flair is from Basic Grey

LOOK LOOK another filler card for me lol. This cute hashtag wood veneer I got in a Grab Bag from 'My Paper Balloon'

And my week card. I used on of the front page cards from Kiwi core kit, some Amy Tan Thickers and my date stamp. I love the simplicity of this card.

I hope liked looking at my Layout.
My photos for last week are getting printed today and I hope to finish that layout tonight so I can get photos in the morning and do a blog post before I go on a weeks holiday.

Deer Designer - #2

Afternoon everyone, I am here to share a birthday card to go with the little note books I covered last week.

I used the Desktop Collection once again and some Thickers from my stash. It is a very simple card but I love how it turned out.

So I used a pre folded card that comes in a pack of like 100 from kmart and simply just used my trusty double sided tape and put one of the prices of gold foiled 6x6 papers onto the card and trimmed it.

So I like to use a ruler to place my alphas I and to get them straight.

Then I embellished a little with the chipboard stickers from the Desktop collection.

I hope you liked my card to go with the note books.

Melissa - Creative Team Member

Good evening everyone I am here with a post so your can get to know my Creative Team member Melissa.

Melissa - Bio

"My name is Melissa Marie, I'm 17 years old and live in New York with my family. I have been homeschooled since I was little and am now finishing up my senior year of highschool. My dream came true in December, when I got accepted to the college of my choice! I'll be studying Graphic Design in the fall. It's an exciting adventure for me. In my free time,  I like to read my Bible, spend time with family, make mini albums, knit, watch the New York Giants, and wish I lived in Downton Abbey."

I also sent Melissa some quick questions to answer.

1. When did you start crafting? I always loved to create. When I was little, I can remember playing with crafts, coloring, and knitting. But I grew to love and admire scrapbooking in 2013.

2. What is your favourite craft? My favorite type of craft is probably making mini albums and knitting.

3. Do you say you have a style of crafting? I would consider my style slightly vintage with pops of color. It's fun to play around with cards and pretty embellishments and use them with your pictures to tell a story.

4. Why do you document/craft? I document and craft so I can remember what happened in my highschool years. My motto is you only live this age once so document and enjoy it. Someday you might want to look back and see what you did and who you met. I would also love to past down and share these albums with my family.

5. What are some main products you use? Some of the main products I use are Studio Calico's Scrapbook and Project Life kits, Dear Lizzy supplies, and adhesive (cannot live without it!)

6. What are your favourite craft stores/do you have any nearby you? My favorite online scrapbooking stores are Paper Issues and Studio Calico! In my neighborhood, I am blessed to have both Joann's and Michaels. I use Michaels a lot to buy card stock and adhesive, etc.

Social Media-
I hope you enjoyed getting to know Melissa and I will be back soon with a post to get to know her sister Natalie.

PL JUNKIES - DT post #1

Hey everyone Lydia here with a layout for all you junkies. This layout is my week 4 spread and I got to use the awesome exclusive wood veneers from Craft Paper Scissors

Picture
This week was my first ever time using Enamel Dots. Yes, first time. So I had a lot of fun using them as I often use sequins on my layouts.

Left Side - so this week was the first week of school going back here in Queensland, Australia so I started year 9. I use 2 of the exclusive wood veneers from Craft Paper Scissors as mentioned above.
All the cards I used in this layout are from : Happy Core Kit, Heidi Swapp Favourite Things Core Kit and Teen Boy Themed Kit. This wood veneer frame is from freckeled fawn, I don't know which kit as I got it in a giveaway last year.
Since it was my first day back at school I thought it would be a good idea to use a card which asked a few questions about myself right now. (This card is from the Teen Boy Themed Kit). You can also see 1 of the exclusive wood veneers.

Right Side - this side of the spread is mainly about my early morning going to pick grapes for the first time at one of our local vineyards. I love the green/teal quote card from the Happy Core Kit that summed up that day great.
Now I rarely use filler cards but I really only want 1 card for journaling about the grape picking so this card from the Happy Core Kit all I did was use some washi tape from Target here in Australia and a Fancy Pants Flair.

My challenge for you this week is to try something new or use something new that you have never used. Something you don't often do. For example this week was my first week using enamel dots and a week using filler cards which I don't often do.

I can't wait to hear what you use or do that you don't often do on your layouts.

Crafts of the Week - Week 5 & 6 of 2015

Hey everyone…
I know, I know I haven't kept up very well with my crafts of the week but here I am with 2 week in 1.

So the week end of last week (week 5) i bought a new iPod case and it is clear so I can make my own covers out of my scrappbooking goodies. This one has products used from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection.

I also made some cute little covers for one of my friends birthdays that is coming up which I used products from  Deer & Fawn Designs and that is a blog post that I have already done (got to previous blog post)

I have done week 5 of my PL this week. Will share photos of their weekend.

That is all I have to show you if my crafts go far these past 2 weeks but I will definitely be back soon to share my DT Layout for all the PL Junkies, week 5 PL.

Deer Designer - #1

Hey everyone I am super excited to be here as a Deer Designer and here with my first post.

Today I am showing how to cover and decorate cute little notebooks.

The notebooks I use are $2-$3 for a 4 pack of A5 notebooks. I find these in the craft/notebook area in Big W I think the ones I have here are from the 'Collected & Co'. I like to have a few packets on hand for quick and easy birthday presents.

So here is how to cover and decorate your little notebooks - I pick my papers I want to use for the front and back cover. These books I only covered with printed paper on the front and just white card stock on the back. I have used the cute 'Desktop' collection by Becky Higgins Project Life 6x6 paper pad. All I used to stick the paper on is with my trusty double sided tape and then trim the rest of the paper off.

Once the front and back cover paper are on I use wash over the spine. I like to use 3 pieces.

So then it's the fun part, you get to start decorating your notebooks. These 2 I have used some super cute coloured doilies from the Deer & Fawn Designs shop and the cute Chipboard stickers from the ''Desktop' collection by Becky Higgins. There's even a touch of hold in this collection.

So there you have it a cute, easy and quick way to make a little birthday gift or even just for yourself.

I hope you like my first Deer Designer post and I can't wait to see what you create if you do one of these notebooks.
