Hi there!  I'm excited to be here on Lydia's blog today.  I'm Mariah.  I've been scrapbooking for about 12 years.  I'm married to my high school sweetheart.  We have three boys ages 7, 9, and 11.  I am currently a design team member for Clique Kits.  That has been a lot of fun.  In my spare time I like to read, hunt and fish, camp, and spend time with my family.

So, today, I want to share a layout with you and a few tips on how to organize your photos and pages for layouts.

I made this layout using a sketch from the Scrap Our Stash March Sketch Challenge designed by Karan Gerber.  I don't usually use sketches when I scrapbook, but I really loved this one.  The papers came from the March Clique Kits J'Adore Kit.

Now to how I organize my photos and pages for crafting.  I think I should start off by saying that I have three different types of scrapbooks.  Three are chronological (One for each boy), one is just for fun, and the other is my Project Life Album.  Let's talk about how I organize each of those.  Let's start with my Just for Fun Album.  This album has no rhyme or reason.  It's not organized at all other than by the fact it's made with photos or stories that I love.

The next album is my Project Life Album.  This album is organized chronologically by week for the year 2015.  I don't follow the strict two page rule.  So in the photo below you are looking at Week 4 and Week 5.  That doesn't mean I don't do the two page spreads, however.  I just decided not to limit myself into a box this year.  I choose to run my weeks from Friday to Thursday.  So, if I were to do this week, it would start Friday April 10-Thursday April 16.

Here is my planning page for Project Life.  I usually just go through the photos on my phone or computer and write them down when they are in the time frame of a certain week.  You can see it's really formal..ha.  I usually just toss the sheet out when I'm done with all of the pages and start a new one.

Now, how I make my chronological albums is quite different.  These are extremely planned and fit my Type A personality.  Now, I'm doing one for each child.  So each child will receive chronological albums for their childhood.  Most of the pages I do are duplicates.  So I make the same page three times.  I might use different papers or embellishments, but they are the same photos and photo layout.  I also include pages that are unique to each boy.  So special accomplishments or things about each child are included.  Here is how I plan them.  I keep a notebook.  This notebook is like my prize possession when it comes to scrapbooking.  It holds my sketches and pages that are planned to be made.  It's pretty complicated so, I decided to make a quick Youtube Video for you.  Please let me know if you have questions in the comments!

It was great to be here today.  Thanks, Lydia, for having me!  Hope you all enjoyed it!

  1. Great post and WOW Mariah you are organized! Its very impressive that you keep up with all of this information for each of the scrapbooks that you do. I really liked your idea of writing down the image number that you want to have printed and I will have to start doing that versus writing a generic desc of the photo I want to use and then having to figure out later which of the 3 that fit into that generic desc that I referenced to originally.
